What is Soft Tissue Lasers Dentistry?
Soft tissue lasers use a concentrated beam of light energy to target and remove or reshape soft tissues in the mouth. This technology allows for greater precision and control, reducing the need for scalpels and sutures. The laser can precisely cut or vaporize tissue while simultaneously sealing blood vessels and nerve endings, which minimizes bleeding and pain during the procedure.
Laser dentistry is often used for gum treatments, cosmetic enhancements, and other soft tissue procedures. The versatility of soft tissue lasers means they can be used for both restorative and cosmetic purposes, providing patients with a wide range of benefits.

Benefits of Soft Tissue Lasers Dentistry
Soft tissue laser technology offers many advantages over traditional methods, making it a preferred choice for patients and dentists alike. Some of the key benefits include:
Minimal discomfort
Lasers cause less trauma to the surrounding tissues, meaning less post-operative pain and a quicker recovery. Most patients experience little to no discomfort during and after treatment.
Faster healing times
Because lasers are less invasive than traditional methods, patients typically heal faster. There is also a reduced risk of infection since the laser sterilizes the area as it works.
Reduced bleeding
The laser seals blood vessels as it cuts, resulting in minimal bleeding during the procedure. This is particularly beneficial for patients who may have a higher risk of bleeding or those with gum disease
Increased precision
Soft tissue lasers allow for extremely precise control, enabling the dentist to remove or reshape only the targeted areas of tissue while preserving healthy tissue. This precision leads to more predictable and successful outcomes.
No sutures needed
In many cases, soft tissue laser procedures do not require stitches, which simplifies the post-treatment care process and reduces recovery time.

What to Expect During a Soft Tissue Lasers Procedure
At Cloverpark Dental, we strive to make every patient’s experience as comfortable as possible. Before your procedure, our dentist will discuss your specific treatment plan and answer any questions you may have.
Most laser procedures are performed with a local anesthetic to ensure comfort, although many patients report little to no pain during the procedure. The laser allows for greater precision, so the procedure is often quicker than traditional methods. Afterward, you can expect minimal discomfort and a faster recovery compared to traditional soft tissue surgeries.

Post-Procedure Care and Recovery
One of the greatest benefits of soft tissue laser dentistry is the shorter recovery time. Since the laser seals blood vessels and nerve endings, most patients experience minimal swelling, bleeding, or pain following their procedure. However, it’s still important to follow your dentist’s post-procedure instructions to ensure optimal healing.
For the first 24-48 hours after the procedure, you should avoid strenuous activities and stick to soft foods that are easy to chew. Be sure to maintain good oral hygiene, but take care to avoid the treated area while brushing. Rinsing with warm salt water can help promote healing and keep the area clean.
Because there is typically no need for sutures, you can expect your recovery to be faster and less complicated than with traditional surgical methods. Most patients can return to their normal routine within a few days.
